Curiosity is a restless impulse, a hand reaching, a question forming before it can be spoken. It nudges, pries, and unravels-an instinct as old as hunger. A child traces the delicate legs of an insect, watching how it moves, drawn not by cruelty but by wonder. A dog worries at the seams of a toy, releasing its hidden form, not to destroy but to understand.
“A playdate to query in awe” is a collection of gestures intuitive, compulsive, ritualistic. Hands dismantle, scrape, tear. Teeth graze, tongues press against uneven edges. Bodies shift and fold, expanding and contracting, as if searching for something just beyond reach. In each act of deconstruction-of materials, memories, selves-there is a question: Does breaking something open reveal its essence, or does it merely scatter its parts, each with a logic of its own?
